Community Invited to Celebrate Culture, Food and Family Fun at the Abie & Dorethia Ladson Cultural Festival

Free Community Festival Returns to Plantersville on October 31st
GEORGETOWN, SC — The Village Group invites families and community members to spend Halloween Saturday celebrating the people, culture, and traditions of Plantersville at the Abie & Dorethia Ladson Cultural Festival, taking place Saturday, October 31st, 2026, at Plantersville Elementary School.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the free festival will offer an afternoon filled with live music, local food, special Gullah-Geechee performances, youth activities and a Vendor Village featuring local businesses and artisans. Admission and parking are free, and the festival is open to all ages.

Held in conjunction with the 8th Annual Andy Quattlebaum Tour de Plantersville, the festival welcomes riders back from their routes while inviting the entire community to join the celebration, whether they participate in the ride or not.
“The Cultural Festival is a chance for our community to come together and celebrate what makes Plantersville so special,” said Ray Funnye, Founder and Executive Director of The Village Group. “You don’t have to be a cyclist to be part of this day. Bring your family, enjoy the food and entertainment, learn something new, and spend the day with us.”
The festival honors Abie and Dorethia Ladson, and reflects The Village Group’s commitment to preserving and sharing the history and culture of the Plantersville community. “We envision this tribute as a distinguished and meaningful recognition of Abie and Dorethia Ladson’s legacy, one that celebrates family, cultural identity, and our community values” said Ray Funnye. Through music, food, performances and activities, guests will have opportunities to experience the area’s heritage while supporting local businesses, artists, and organizations.
