Boeing’s Frank Hatten visits Plantersville Summer Academy for Aerospace Week
Plantersville, SC Plantersville Summer Academy (PSA) is delighted to announce that Frank Hatten, Strategy and Integration Education Specialist will be stopping by to engage with our academy scholars during Aerospace Week on June 22nd. Frank Hatten will pour into our scholars on how Boeings can help to create youth readiness — particularly in mathematics — to generate interest and sustained participation in STEM disciplines through hands-on, experiential learning.
“Our goal is to graduate more students who are ready to enter aerospace and advanced STEM-focused education. Boeing is committed to inspiring and preparing the next generation of innovators. At our Plantersville Summer Academy, we intend to cultivate the natural curiosity of young people through exposure to companies such as Boeing to show them how science and engineering can help solve real-world problems,” stated Executive Director Ray Funnye.
For 4 full days a week, the program provides classroom instruction in preparation for the grade the scholar will be entering in the fall by certified teachers for the early portion of the day. The afternoon will be focused on experiential activities based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM), field trips, and guest speakers along with 3 nutritious meals/snacks. “This year we are excited to be offering several new programs and activities for our scholars,” stated Mr. Funnye.
