Plantersville Summer Academy is an all-encompassing six week program that prepares students entering K-9th grade for the start of the school year. Certified teachers, following the nationally recognized BellXcel curriculum, provide dedicated classroom time each day focusing on literacy and mathematics along with experiential opportunities. The Village Group believes that education extends beyond the classroom, and incorporates field trips to “outdoor classrooms” such as Myrtle Waves, Huntington Beach, Brookgreen Gardens, Stone Theatres, 810 bowling, Top Golf, Hobcaw Barony, and other local environmental areas. Specialists are brought in to lead programs in robotics, aeronautics, and other Science Technology Engineering Math programs. The Culturally Sustaining STEM Institute gives scholars field experiences in environmental science while relating their lesson to the community and culture on the area. The most recent addition of a Media program, led by MLNL Media, provides scholars with the opportunity to explore their community through the lenses of a camera while learning about the environment, natural habitat, culture and history of the area. The Plantersville Summer Academy is made possible through a partnership with the Georgetown County School District.
