Plantersville Summer Academy & Summer Bridge Programs Starting date pushed back due to COVID-19

Plantersville, SC Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic the Plantersville Summer Academy & Summer Bridge program, scheduled to begin on June 8th will be cancelled for the month of June. Families that have registered will receive a full refund of the monies they paid.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation regarding the potential of the programs resuming in July. We fully realize that this is another major setback for our scholars and their families and will continue to work on opportunities to engage with our scholars,” stated Ray Funnye, Executive Director.

The Distance Learning Academy set up for children enrolled in the Plantersville Enrichment Academy (after school program) will continue through the month of June. The Village Group’s Distance Learning Academy (DLA) grew out of our great concern for the Plantersville Enrichment Academy’s scholars and their families who depended on our staff for educational and emotional support.   Our team, led by Program Director Queen, developed a plan that where each of our scholars are now connected with their teacher/support system as well as being provided with a continuation of our STEAM program now in a non-traditional setting.    

The Village Group is a local nonprofit that serves as a conduit for the people working to make positive changes in the lives of children, which cultivates a better community as a whole.

The Village Group seeks to develop and sustain meaningful partnerships with individuals, public agencies and organizations in order to promote and achieve – Youth Development, Literacy Enrichment, STEM-Based Education, Recreation enhancements and Community improvements.
