Gaynor, to visit Summer Academy

GEORGETOWN COUNTY—The Village Group, a Georgetown County-based nonprofit dedicated to making positive changes in the community, runs Plantersville Summer Academy (PSA) each year to help K-9 students grow both inside and outside the classroom. PSA is pleased to announce that the Queen of Disco, Gloria Gaynor, will be visiting the school to speak to middle and high school students and guests on June 10th, 2015 at 2 pm.

“I Will Survive” was recorded in 1978 as Gloria Gaynor’s tale of personal strength and soon became the greatest disco anthem of all time. Almost 40 years later, this song is still being used as a symbol of female strength. “I Will Survive” was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and remains Gaynor’s biggest hit.

The Village Group is committed to providing high quality summer and after-school enrichment programs that support children and families. PSA uses curriculum based programming and Khan Academy, a web-based educational program, to keep children academically engaged throughout the summer. The Village Group is pleased to bring opportunities such as a visit from Gloria Gaynor to the children of Georgetown County in order to show younger generations how much they can accomplish with hard work.
PSA 2015 will have its first day on June 8th, 2015 and over 225 students have enrolled. PSA is located at Plantersville Elementary School, 1668 Exodus Dr., Georgetown, SC 29440.
