Dear Mr. Doe;
We are soliciting your financial support. Before you decide whether or how generously to respond, please allow me to explain what we intend to accomplish with your contribution.
First, we need your support to help sponsor the Plantersville Heritage Festival (PHF). The main goal of 6th annual PHF is to celebrate and share the rich history and culture of Plantersville. We seek to expand the arts experiences, both participatory and as observers featuring traditional art, artists and performers. The performing and participating artists will heavily reflect indigenous Lowcountry culture, such as storytelling, dollmaking, artwork, and African drumming. By offering a venue for these artists to display their talent and work, we are giving them the opportunity to refine their skills and to develop personal and professional excellence. This year the festival will be held on June 25-26, 2010.
And second, we are very please to collaborate with other organizations to help sponsor the 2010 Plantersville Summer Academy; this year we are the prime supporter. The seven (7) week summer program for youths offers an atmosphere for higher academic performance standards through educational, cultural and enrichment activities. Commencing June 7, our mission is to reinforce what has be taught during the regular school term and broaden the youths’ view of the community and their relation to the environment. Our long-term goal is to enable a greater percentage of Plantersville area students to exceed the minimal standards for state testing requirements in math, reading and other curricula areas.
While The Village Group has reached out and joined forces with numerous community resources and organizations, we need your financial support to make these community projects a reality. I am asking that you please make a contribution. All donations are tax deductible and should be made payable to The Village Group.
Thanking you in advance.
Ray C. Funnye, Chairman
